Really enjoyed it, man! Bummer 'bout your lcs. I know I feel existentially lost without a decent one to haunt every wens. Your take on the Superman films is spot on. The sequels are all so dreadful except for the Singer one of course. Though, the only thing I didn't care for about that is that Supes is portrayed as a "stalker" of sorts. Kinda creepy. "Pysch' is a pretty cute, funny show but I have never understood why Shawn just doesn't join the police force? You should watch "Monk", it's very much along the same vibe as "Psych". The sports world seems to have fallen in disrepute of late hasn't it? Steroids, dog fighting, refs making bets on dozens of games he personally reffed(sp?), etc. Loved the Pac Man music. Looking forward to the next edition, Flash!
thanks mac!
i do watch monk and it's because of that show that i am now watching psych. they are both fun shows! i agree about the stalker aspect of superman returns. i guess if i was in his shoes and only loved one person in the whole world, i would be tempted to sort-of stalk her too. the bigger question for me is...why lois?
i never got that. i suppose love is blind. (or has x-ray vision, whatever)
glad you liked the pacman fever music. it's sooo me!
Hey, thought I'd let you know I finally gave Invincible a shot and really like it a lot thus far. I picked up the first slim TB collection used, half off (I thought what the heck) but I liked it enough to order the big fat hardcover collections vol 1-3.
good for you!
ya won't be sorry as it's one of the best superhero books out there today.
by the way, i'm sorry to tell you that darwin cooke is leaving the spirit comic with issue 12.
What!?! Are you 100% sure of that? That really really blows! This is not my day...
'fraid so....he announced it at the comic-con. at least you have the DC new frontier video to look forward to in a few months.
Bucky--you may already know about this podcast, but I'll post in case any of your loyal legion do not know:

The guy makes reference to Cooke leaving the Sprit comic, and other comic news and what's going on at San Diego Con--man, how I wish I was there this weekend. Dontcha wish they'd hurry up and make a Trek Transporter, sigh... ~davew
Good podcast, Bucky.
Yay, Superman--probably Superman 1 is one of my favorite superhero movies, with the second one coming in there as well with all the flaws, but like you said, can you imagine how much better that movie could have been without those leaps of logic and flaws? Yep, Supes 3 & 4 were just pretty darn bad, and I haven't seen the newest Supes yet, but on my Netlix list soon to be watched.
Did you ever see the movie about one of the earlier Supermen, George Reeves--I think the name is Hollywoodland or something to that title. Anyway it centers around his mysterious death. I grew up in those golden years, and fondly remember those old B & W Superman programs from TV, among others. Even though they're sort of cheesy these days, I think some are fun to watch, much like the camp Adam West/Burt Ward series. Back to Supes II though, I always thought the female alien was hot...
Yay--Indie 4, saw a couple of photos, Karen Allen is still hot... I'm a big fan of those films, so that will great.
Yay--Dr. Who, I agree with your assessment, though I missed several key episodes last season. I just taped the one from last night. On another topic, I'd read where there were some Classic Trek comics that were coming out, have you seen any of them? Too bad about the local shop changing hands--a shop should not be all about making money and commerce, imo, it's also a waterhole for geeks, and a place to shoot the breeze. Hopefully you'll still enjoy going there...
Haven't seen or heard of the Psych series, I'll have to take note.
The Texans? Egad man, you do root for the underdog ;) just kidding dude
fyi- I just watched the season premiere of Psych (bonus on the newest monk dvd collection) and the reasoning behind the premise of the show is more clear to me though it's a tenuous basis at best. Part of the charm of the show I suppose. I'm still bummed about the Cooke thing...
davew-good to hear from ya!
i think you are right about "hollywoodland". i need to see it (even if it has ben affleck in it...."shudder"...)the superman dvd set had the george reeves movie "superman and the mole men" on it. it also had the "superpup" pilot, but i try not to hold it against them.
sara douglas was/is hot! i loved seeing the documentaries where everyone is interviewed in current times (seeing how everyone has aged is warped fun!)
i do listen to the comic book resourses podcast. it's good. i find i'm sampling as many podcasts as possible to get ideas and to improve. hopefully, as i get more comfortable doing these, the better they will be. (less, uuhhhhs, and ohhhs, and ya knows?)
the new classic trek series by idw is well written but the art lookes like something out of star trek "the manga". oh well...
oh yeah, i like pain, that's why i'm a texans fan! of course if they ever win, i'll have a heart attack and it will be a sign of the apocalypse!
macmuffin-scuttlebut out of comic-con is that jeff smith will be taking over for cooke on the spirit. that sounds good to me! by the way sucka!!!! if you like invincible....READ WALKING DEAD NOW!!!!
borrow mob's copies FOOL!! LOL!!
Hey, I have a request.. do these thingies more often! I miss your buttery smooth voice. Seriously, with greater frequency sir.
